My story
Helping people has always been my thing
After more than 20 years helping people through change and uncertainty — plus a psychology degree and CBT training — I found my way to therapy, which I always knew is where I would end up.

In a way, I always knew I'd end up doing this. I've loved helping people for as long as I can remember — it's what drew me to HR in the first place, and it's what eventually led me to therapy.
For over 20 years I worked in HR, organisational development and business change, which mostly meant being alongside people through pressure, uncertainty and change. Alongside the work, I followed my fascination with people — why we think, feel and behave the way we do — through a BSc in Behavioural Science, an MSc in Psychology, and eventually a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT. Training as a therapist felt less like a career change and more like arriving somewhere I'd always been heading.
One thing I've noticed again and again, both in life and in the therapy room, is how many of us are quietly trying to avoid our own emotions. It makes complete sense — most of us were never taught how to sit with difficult feelings, let alone name them or talk about them out loud. So we get good at pushing them down and carrying on. A lot of the work I do is simply helping people turn towards what they feel, with a bit more kindness and a lot less judgement.
I don't think you have to have been through something yourself to understand it — but I do think it helps. Like everyone, I've had my own hard chapters, and I've felt first-hand what a difference the right support can make. It's a big part of why I do this work the way I do.
Over time I landed on a belief that now sits right at the heart of how I work: so much of what we wrestle with isn't a sign something's wrong with us — it's just part of being human. That's exactly where the name Being Human Therapy came from.
These days I bring together everything I picked up working with people in organisations and in the therapy room — a warm, down-to-earth, practical way of working that meets you right where you are.
When I'm not working, you'll usually find me out walking, getting lost in a good book, or spending time with the people I love.
